Swinerton provided preconstruction and general contracting services for the UCHealth Anschutz Campus Parking Structure, located directly across from the Anschutz Outpatient Pavilion (AOP). The six-story, above-grade parking garage totals 422,135 square feet with two stair towers and an elevator and stair core. The garage adds parking for 1,310 vehicles, including 132 ADA-compliant spaces. An elevated pedestrian bridge connects the garage and hospital, which was assembled off site, shipped to the garage, and installed together on site. Swinerton self-performed concrete and drywall scopes of work.
More than two million patient visits take place annually at the Anschutz Medical Campus, home to the regional healthcare system’s Anschutz Outpatient Pavilion (AOP), which houses many of the hospital’s clinics. This project will help the hospital manage current and future demands for its outpatient and visitor population. The new facility represents a safe, accessible spot for people to land when they are seeking care and support for themselves or a loved one.

Swinerton provided general contracting services for renovations within the hospital’s active Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Full replacements were made to all sterile processing equipment and finishes in the decontamination portion of the SPD. A new water treatment system was also installed. The replacement of sterile processing equipment included minor partition modifications to improve staff workflow. Work took place within an operational acute care hospital adjacent to clean rooms. This required workers to suit up in protective dress to ensure these spaces were not decontaminated by debris or dust.

Swinerton provided general contracting services for this 4,500-square-foot tenant improvement, which transformed a 1960’s home into a medical grade in-home healthcare facility. This facility will offer full-time around the clock care for medically fragile children in the area, filling a current gap in the system of care in Spokane. The last medically fragile group home that served children and teenagers 18 years and younger in the Spokane area closed in 2019 after it lost its license from Washington State. Swinerton helped Ashley House NW, a Puget Sound-based nonprofit, with several construction components to maximize care space in this facility. The house was full of asbestos so abatement took most of the framing down to the studs. A fireplace was demolished to widen the footprint of the activity room. Structural brace framing occurred to provide a larger bathroom and hallways leading to the bedrooms. Ramps were installed at the front porch and back entrance for wheel chair accessibility. The project team helped the client make finish selections including paint, flooring, casework, plumbing and light fixtures. Overall, this project was very rewarding as this home will provide services the community desperately needs.

The UCSF Benioff Oakland Children’s Hospital Phase 1 renovation projects involve the expansion and renovation of the existing Central Utility Plant (CUP); the buildout of a 21,000-square-foot PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit); and approximately 15,000 square feet of support spaces, consisting of sterile processing, a USP 800 pharmacy, Environmental Services (EVS) and Phone Board Exchange (PBX). In addition, the project involves seismic upgrades and building separations to a variety of utilities associated with the facility’s pending AB90 compliance, including the associated “removal” of the non-compliant A/B and B/C wings from Acute Care Services. The project’s HAZUS related scope includes a new exterior ramp to provide egress from the second floor.
